I’m going to keep this blog for the week at little on the short side. As I type this there is a category 4 hurricane named Ida barreling down upon my hometown. Over the course of the past couple of weeks I have been watching a lot of youtube videos on how to break into the industry. There are a few things I keep running across.
- Keep trying – don’t give up even as the rejection emails continue to pile up. Eventually something is going to give.
- Algorithms – I covered this in a previous blog, and it keeps remaining true. The better you are at solving problems and convincing companies that you are good at solving problems, the more appealing you will make yourself look.
- The last thing is the main point of this blog and that’s free lance work. I saw a post on twitter this past week about people complaining that they can’t get into the industry because people only want Devs that have years of experience and there isn’t anyway around that. So how do you get experience if companies won’t hire you. FREE LANCE work. A super simple concept and yet completely terrifying.
So how does one begin doing free lance coding….I’m still working on figuring that part out. I’ve been looking around to different websites such as Fiverr, Dice, and FreeLancer. This is a brand new area of exploration for me and my coding journey and I’ll be sure to report back on it after I’ve dug a little deeper. As I said at the beginning this is just a quick update. If you’re reading this please wish my family and I luck as we brave through the first major hurricane of the 2021 season.
